The Healing Fields Model™ is a clinically rigorous, integrative methodology for facilitating Corrective Emotional Experiences (CEEs) that repair the Social Engagement System and create lasting nervous-system-level change.
Rooted in Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges), Interpersonal Neurobiology (Dan Siegel), somatic psychology, and person-centered principles, the model uses a complete five-field therapeutic framework to create the precise conditions of safety, co-regulation, and neuroception of safety required for deep, embodied healing.
1. Internal Field The client’s inner landscape — interoception, somatic awareness, emotional tone, autonomic nervous system states, and window of tolerance. This field helps clients locate themselves in their bodies, recognize present-moment internal cues, and build self-regulation capacity.
2. Relational Field The living interpersonal field between therapist and client (or group). It includes therapeutic alliance, attuned presence, co-regulation, rupture-and-repair, and person-centered principles. Relational injuries are healed in relationship here.
3. Ecological Field Nature and environment as active co-therapist. Sensory grounding, soft fascination, ecological metaphors, rhythmic movement, and natural ventral vagal cues in outdoor and immersive settings. Nature expands the window of tolerance and supports regulation.
4. Integrative Field The dynamic field of synthesis and meaning-making where Internal, Relational, and Ecological experiences are woven together. This field activates neuroplasticity, conscious integration of corrective experiences, emotional resilience, and the translation of session insights into lasting life change, moving clients from fragmentation to coherent, embodied wholeness.
5. Therapeutic Field The overarching structured therapeutic container and process. It encompasses the therapist’s internal readiness, ethical boundaries, the 5-Phase Session Process, co-facilitation skills, crisis management, and the intentional creation of safety across all other fields. The Therapeutic Field makes the entire model operational, replicable, and ethically sound.
The Internal, Relational, and Ecological Fields supply the raw material of healing. The Integrative Field synthesizes them into coherent transformation. The Therapeutic Field provides the skilled structure, presence, and ethical container that allows all fields to activate safely and powerfully — even in complex immersive environments.
When the five fields converge, they create the conditions for deep Corrective Emotional Experiences. Clients move through Preparation → Reliving with Repair → Integration, shifting from defensive autonomic states into ventral vagal connection and producing lasting emotional resilience, relational growth, and expanded self-regulation.
